These spirits are not to be confused with those of the dead, who are destined for the Realm of Death, but manifestations of nature and the land. For example a river spirit, spirit of a wood or mountain, etc. Some are kind or protective and may be revered in rural villages or towns, others are more malicious and seek to corrupt or harm mortals.
