An area within the continent of Illenfar where reality itself begins to decay. At first, magical anomalies began to appear, some would distort gravity, produce flames or electrical energy, or would simply appear and disappear within a day. Over time, crops and some plant life began to fail, the soil turned grey, the leaves on the trees grew dark. The wind died and animals became silent. Then, an endless gloom and fog that would never dissipate would roll in. Large chunks of earth would rip from the ground and simply be suspended in air. Eventually, the scholars suspect - time itself slow before ceasing altogether.
This phenomena occurred 111 years ago, the blight expanding outwards over the course of 40 years before halting. Nobody knows what caused it or why it stopped. People have suspected it may have been some great dark magic that went wrong. It has begun to fade out of the imperial public consciousness, until two years ago - where it was observed to have begun slowly and sinisterly expanding once again.
The Blight is forbidden for anyone to enter, as it is extremely dangerous. Yet as with anything forbidden - there are those who seek its secrets, and rumours of treasure and knowledge run abound.
