Description

Some 300 years ago, the first Elves where born to human parents. This new species, distinct from there human ancestors, appear to have been genetically altered by the arcane. As a result, they naturally have a higher attunement to magic. Elves to this day are still sometimes born from human parents, or from Elves. This has meant that despite their short existence, Elves have become relatively common across the world.

Elves have rapidly developed their own language and culture, steeped deeply in the arcane. Many elves live alongside other races in bustling cities, or towns. However, over the centuries many elves have gathered to create their own settlements ranging from remote villages to impressive cities.

DM note: Elves have been reworked, they no longer have 3 subspecies - there’s just ‘Elf’. Rules have been reworked below.

Appearance

  • Taller than humans, averaging 7 to 8 feet.
  • Ethereal, Lithe forms with long limbs and elongated necks
  • Variety of skin tones: copper, bronze, blue-tinged, bluish-white, and even dark grey or purplish-blue.
  • Angular, sharp and sometimes gaunt facial features, high cheek bones and strong jawlines.
  • Pitch black pupil-less eyes
  • Very long pointed ears

Characteristics

  • Elves can sometimes be isolationist or see themselves as superior or ‘the next step’ compared to humans. Others merely want to carve out a place for elves in the world
  • Many value the arcane and its secrets, and desire knowledge above all else.
  • While all elves have some deep attachment to magic, some have rejected the arcane arts, seeing it as ‘wrong’ instead perusing the path of the gods or a life in tune with nature and the spiritual world.
