Description

Orcs stand as one of the worlds ancient races, whether they predate humans is unknown due to their lack of a traditional written language for most of their history. Instead their history is preserved through oral traditions, songs and a communal memory.

While orcs differ from region to region, many still hold to the old ways, maintaining a deep sense of spirituality. Many orcs revere their ancestral spirits and the primal forces of the world.

Orcs are largely concentrated in the mountain steppe of northern Kairenya, believed to be the ancestral home of their people. Entire groups and settlements of orcs are rumoured to be found here. Elsewhere in the world, orcs tend to live a more solitary existence. Most Orcs prefer to keep to themselves or the company of their own kin, seeking environments conducive to quiet contemplation.

This inherent solitude creates a stark divide within the modern race. Many Orcs remain aloof from the affairs of man, dwelling in remote places to uphold their spiritual duties. Conversely, the minority of Empire Orcs—those who have, by choice or circumstance, moved to the core territories—are far more likely to integrate, often bringing their wisdom and pragmatic patience to bear as advisors, scholars, or disciplined functionaries within the Empire’s immense structure. They retain their deep spirituality, but temper it with a functional understanding of the modern world.
