A now extinct religious group of insane dragon worshippers.
Disillusioned with the gods, The Cults of the Dragon began some time after the appearance of Dragons in the Material World. The Cults of the Dragon was not one consistent organised group, but instead an umbrella made up of possibly thousands of smaller groups and sects. Each group had its own practices and beliefs, but all groups admired a dragons primary trait - its raw power. These groups sort to become closer with Dragons, with most groups going as far as to sanctify dragon bones or consume the flesh of Dragonkin.
near 500 years after the first cults appeared, a great ritual was performed. Details are scant but it is said a great gathering of all of the cults gathered, and together they attempted to ascend. The madness that ensued is said to be unimaginable; Most died screaming in agony, some became warped beyond recognition into abominations. A small number became the Dragonborn.
The Dragonborn survivors, disgusted with the blasphemy they had partaken in abandoned the now extinct cult. To them the consumption of dragon flesh became abhorrent, and the dragons blood a curse on them.
