Our heroes began their journey to the prison island fortress of Ostrastein after being subjected to less than suitable living arrangements onboard the prison boat.
After a brief inspection by the captain, we arrived at the prison isle and we were summarily processed by the Warden Desimir and his elven companion who warned us escape was impossible and to look forward to being here for the rest of our lives.
Not poggers.
We were then summarily introduced to one another through the rather quick interment into our cells and were shackled with magic dampening collars.
We met Osovold, a rather melancholic prisoner who told us a little of the prison’s various routines and systems alongside the information that the former occupants of the cells had been executed after a failed escape and he’d been left behind.
We were rudely interrupted by a guard to inform us an hour of recreation was to commence.
Marshall Forgeburn in a brave act of defiance boldly performed a dirty protest to rattle the guards morale.
After this brave deed we were escorted to the yard and saw all the current prisoners interred and we were drawn to a group of 3 prisoners who told us a little more of Osvald’s original plan of tunnelling which failed and they themselves were planning their own escape which involved getting weapons and overpowering the guards.
The group then pointed us in the direction of old man Keslar and a rather shifty black elf.
We spoke with Keslar who provided us with a rough map of the island and Kledan was coerced into performing a drug run for the black elf for his support.
After all this we were then corralled into the mine for the day’s hard labour.
Forgeburn, Tess, Aurlia, Kledan and Dimi attempted a stealthy approach by attempting to break the chains in secret but failed to do so.
After a brief discussion if further stealth was necessary, Titus who was probably sick of manual labour at this point attempted to impale the guard assigned to us, this descended into a violent melee where Tess broke free of her chain link in the chaos.
The group then spectacularly grouped together to beat this herculean guard who resisted all attacks, Kledan managed to push him to the ground where Forgeburn began choking him but this was not enough, after a few more blows bounced off this monster of a guard Forgeburn snapped his neck.
Thus began the group’s expert prison break as subtly be damned, Titus had been stabbed but provided excellent cover for the next stage of the plan.
Dimi took the garb of the fallen guard and led us into the barracks successfully convincing several guards on the way that Titus had been acting out, we made our way into the barracks where more equipment was procured as Dimi and Titus had finished, Forgeburn kept watch as Kledan, Tess and Auurelia hid.
A guard then spotted Aurelia and after a rather poor deception from Dimi another fight broke out.
This again followed the same pattern as before but this time the guard was bound and grappled and after we all failed to persuade/intimidate him, Titus ran a spear through his neck.
The group was kitted out in the Armoury and ready the tackle the Guard Tower, Forgeburn, Dimi and Titus dressed as guards escorted the group to the tower, after some expert lockpicking from Forgeburn we discovered that a secret lab and torture room had been set up, we got more specialised supplies.
The group incensed at this injustice though raced to the first floor and discovered Brother Malon in his quarters and after a brief struggle he was restrained, Aureila and Dimi both coerced and persuaded him to aid us in return for safe passage and the promise of promotion, he also promised to deliver Forgeburn’s Pistols and Gunbelt back to him from the Marshall who had taken it as a trophy.
The elf also informed us the collars were controlled by a crystal conduit in the top floor and by using spells in a concentrated manner could overload it and destroy it.
This would destroy the collars of all the prisoners, the group acted quickly as most likely a riot was soon to start.
We met the Elf outside who delivered the guns as promised and bid us to escape using the upcoming riot as cover, however Titus enraged at the wanton cruelty of this place and had no intention of just leaving innocent people to this fate and Titus swung at the elf, Forgeburn Kledan and Dimi had no issues with this, beginning the first combat for the group who were now free to use their own magics and the power of Gun.
What followed was a massacre as the Elf and Guards were no match for the group on an even playing field and were dispatched thoroughly.
The group then heard the riot kicking off and made an agreement to party up as they were most likely going to be hunted by the Empire and it seems best to stick together for the time being and made a plan to topple what remains of the prison.
The group now unified in purpose now make their way to the Warden to settle things….
